Key Areas of Responsibility
Working as an integral member of the WebCAT team of seven, the Software Engineer will provide
support and development of a large, Web-based training management system. The application
was developed by the team for ExxonMobil worldwide, and it is also used by former affiliates in
Japan, Europe and the Middle East. The role is varied, involving full stack development, which
accounts for approximately 85% of the work, while the remaining 15% is a mixture of support,
investigation, testing and deployment activities. The developments range in size from minor
additions to large new sub-systems. A multi-year re-development project to move the application
user-interface to Angular is currently in the prelaunch phase.
• Design, develop and test full-stack enhancements to WebCAT
• Collaborate with team members on larger developments, taking the lead on mid-sized
projects
• Investigate and fix bugs reported by users in database procedures, the server-based code
and client web pages
• Investigate and respond to third-tier user support queries that could not be answered by
the users’ local and global support teams.
• Perform deployments of developed enhancements and fixes
• Perform data ETL tasks
• Contribute to daily team SCRUM/stand-up meetings
• Undertake regular weekly self-selected and prescribed training
• Other role-related tasks as they arise


Qualifications
• 2-5 years’ experience designing and developing new or maintaining existing software
applications in a software product development environment
• Minimum proficiency required in one or more of the following: .Net and C#, SQL, SSIS,
JavaScript Web Frameworks (e.g. Angular), ASP.NET
• Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio or Visual Studio Code, GIT, and the use of Azure
DevOps or Jira
• Familiarity with Microsoft Server web hosting environments desirable
• Practical experience with SDLC and Agile methodologies
• Highly motivated self-starter with a desire to help others and take action
• Requires strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate
technical concepts into non-technical terms
• Ability to independently work as a contributing member in a high-paced and focused
team
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with competing deadlines
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to work under pressure
• Ability to socialize ideas and influence decisions without direct authority
• Collaborative in nature with a strong desire to dig in and learn independently and as well
as through asking questions
• Considers ‘best-practice’ standards, as well as departmental policies and procedures
• Computer science fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures & algorithms
